Destinations: sixteen routes, from the lobbies of W1 to the runway hotels

Every destination on this board is somewhere the desk sends companions on an ordinary night: eleven central districts, the airports and one page for the hours after midnight. Each route gets its own page: hotels named as landmarks, the nearest stations and their minutes on foot, and the companions who live closest.

Searches for escort friendly hotels in London tend to assume there is a list. There is not, and none is needed: a good hotel treats a visitor as the business of the guest who invited her, and no hotel on these pages has any link with the desk.

Log01

West End lobbies, W1 and WC2

Mayfair holds the grand addresses, Claridge's, the Connaught and the Ritz among them, and St James's next door keeps the smallest lobbies and the quietest doors. Soho is small hotels above late bars, and Covent Garden runs from the Savoy on the Strand up to the opera house. From confirmation, forty minutes to your corridor is typical here.

Log02

Beside the park, SW1 to W8

Knightsbridge and Belgravia share Hyde Park Corner and a good many of the city's quietest suites. Further west, South Kensington keeps its townhouse hotels near the museums, and Kensington its longer stays off the High Street.

Log03

The station and the river

Paddington serves late arrivals off the airport train. East of the West End, the City of London empties after the trading day and London Bridge looks back at it from the south bank; allow about an hour to either after midnight.

Log04

Runways, docks and the small hours

The two far airports, Heathrow and Gatwick, open at a three hour minimum that counts her journey, with the taxi quoted in the first reply; Heathrow and Gatwick together compares the two. Out east, City Airport and ExCeL books from one hour with her fare added.

Checked in at one in the morning? London after midnight sets out how long she takes at each stage of the night and which hotels handle a late arrival best.

Log05

Beyond the twelve

The board is a starting point, not a boundary. A flat in Hampstead or a hotel by the river at Richmond is reached in exactly the same way: her travel is free anywhere in Zones 1 and 2, and further out the fare is written down before you agree. Every name on the rota will make the trip.
