Six houses turned into hotels
Named as landmarks only. None of the six has any dealings with the desk, and she walks in as your guest.
The Ampersand Hotel, SW7 3ER, on Harrington Road, a minute from the station. Number Sixteen, SW7 3EG, on Sumner Place, a run of townhouses with a garden and a pond behind. The Gore, SW7 5EX, on Queen's Gate, a few minutes' walk from the Albert Hall, its walls hung with old pictures from floor to ceiling. 100 Queen's Gate Hotel London, SW7 5AG, a little further down the same wide street. The Kensington, SW7 5LR, another row of joined stucco houses on Queen's Gate. And looking out over Kensington Gardens from Hyde Park Gate, Baglioni Hotel, SW7 5BB.
Most of these are converted houses with small lobbies and a single night porter. Sharing the room number in advance, or meeting her in the bar, keeps the arrival easy.
