  • Swimming, comedy, bookshops
  • Tall and slender, 178 cm
  • Brown eyes, long sleek black hair

Based in Belgravia, and happy to travel to any hotel in town.

Violetta enters a room last and is still the one everyone notices. She is 178 cm and slender, black hair long and sleek, eyes brown, and she has a stillness that reads as mystery and a confidence that never needs to say anything. She is thirty and elegant in the most economical way: nothing extra, nothing missing. Heads turn when she crosses a hotel lobby, and she walks on as if she has not noticed, which she has.

She favours sleek, golden evening looks, a column dress, a gold cuff, heels that put her level with the doorman. Behind the poise sits a surprisingly good sense of humour; her guilty pleasure is stand up, the quiet, clever comics above all, and she can repeat a whole set with the timing intact. She swims a mile before breakfast and spends her free afternoons in bookshops. Her English is low and dry, and every word is chosen.

Her ideal evening starts at Waterstones on Piccadilly, five floors of books in an old department store, where she will choose you a novel in the time it takes you to find the lift. Then a cab west along Knightsbridge to The Berkeley for a drink and dinner, and if you are staying there she will insist you try the rooftop pool before breakfast. The conversation ranges from novels to swimming to the strangest hotel she has ever stayed in, and she is the rare companion who could be silent through dinner and still be the best company in the room.

Violetta lives in Belgravia, close to The Berkeley and the hotels around Hyde Park Corner. Dinner dates are her favourite booking; ask Henrietta about her next free evening.

After dark Violetta

Violetta, after hours

Waterstones on Piccadilly at six, five floors of books and a hush like a library after hours. Violetta asks what you read on your last holiday, frowns slightly, and returns ten minutes later with something far better. Then a cab west to The Berkeley, where she takes a table in the bar and tells you, deadpan, the best joke she heard at a comedy club last week, timing perfect, face completely straight. You laugh; she allows herself a small smile. Dinner is unhurried, and she wants to hear about the strangest hotel you have ever stayed in before she tells you hers. Back in your room she stands at the window for a moment, taller than the curtains seem to expect, and says the city looks best from about the ninth floor.

FAQ 03

Violetta, answering

3 things guests tend to ask before booking, answered in Violetta's own words.

Once a year, if the comic is very good. The last one forgot his entire set and did forty minutes on forgetting instead.

Because it is the only hour nobody can reach me. A mile of lengths, no phone, no talking. By breakfast I am ready for anything.

Something short and funny with a twist at the end. Tell me the last book you finished and I will name one you will love.
