Angelika, the set

On Angelika

  • Mayfair based, W1K
  • Contemporary art by day, jazz after dark
  • Athletic, 172 cm
  • Brown eyes, black hair worn long and straight

Based in Mayfair, and happy to travel to any hotel in town.

07:00, a hard court at the Hyde Park tennis centre, ball after ball until the shoulders loosen. 21:00, a lift in Mayfair, long straight black hair worn down, the racquet swapped for a slim dark dress and heels she can walk a whole evening in. Angelika carries both halves of her day in the way she moves: athletic at 172 cm, upright without effort, brown eyes that take in a corridor in one pass. Mid twenties, she dresses for the building she is visiting, which in her corner of London usually means marble floors and a doorman who has seen everything.

Afternoons belong to contemporary art. She drifts through the white rooms of Hauser & Wirth on Savile Row and the smaller galleries of Cork Street, looking for work that starts an argument, and she enjoys the argument more than the work. In company she is confident and quick, playful once she has your measure, elegant in the old sense of never needing to raise her voice. English is her language, and she uses it well, mostly for teasing.

Her ideal hotel night keeps things close to home. A first drink at the Rivoli Bar at The Ritz, gilt and low lamps, something short and very cold in her glass while she asks about the best thing you saw today. Then a stroll into Soho for a late jazz set, or no jazz at all if the talk turns out better than the band. By eleven the lobby has gone quiet, the night porter nods, and the rest of the evening moves upstairs at whatever pace suits you both.

She lives in Mayfair, minutes from most W1 and SW1 hotels. Every duration is laid out on the rates page; for tonight, send Henrietta your hotel and a start time and she will confirm Angelika's arrival to the minute.

After dark Angelika

Angelika, after hours

Nine o'clock at the Rivoli Bar. Angelika takes the seat nearest the wall so she can see the whole room, and asks what brought you to London before she asks anything else. If it was work, she keeps the plan light. If it was pleasure, she wants the list: what you saw, what you skipped, which gallery you walked straight past. Then out into the evening, past the late diners on Piccadilly, down a Soho staircase to a small room where a trio plays standards slowly. One more drink saved for the interval. She hums the melody back a beat late on purpose, to see whether you notice. The cab home takes minutes. A nod from the night porter, the lift doors closing, and the city goes quiet behind the door of your room.

FAQ 03

Angelika, answering

3 things guests tend to ask before booking, answered in Angelika's own words.

In the afternoon, in a gallery. Looking at paintings is the most restful thing I know, provided nobody asks me to explain them.

If the conversation is better than the band, yes. I would rather listen to you than to a trumpet you are only pretending to enjoy.

Often. Room service, a film we both half watch, proper conversation. Not every good evening needs a queue and a doorman.

No notes on file for Angelika yet, and the desk will never invent one. Guests add a note only once a booking has actually taken place; it shows nothing but their first name and when it was written, and Henrietta reads every one before it is posted.
